Call

Our philosophy

We don't ask what tech you want. We ask what your customers need.

Most agencies start a web design project by asking which CMS you prefer or what features you want. We start by asking a different question: what does the person visiting your website actually need?

Every design decision we make is rooted in the behaviour of real users. Where do they click? Where do they hesitate? What makes them pick up the phone or fill in a form? We study these patterns because a website that looks incredible but confuses the visitor is a failure, and a simple page that drives enquiries is a success.

This is why we have spent 20 years refining an approach that puts the user at the centre of everything. Not the trend, not the technology, not the ego of the designer. The user.

What we focus on

Four pillars of every website we build.

Conversion by design

A beautiful website that nobody acts on is an expensive brochure. We design every page with a clear purpose: guide the visitor toward the action that matters to your business, whether that is a phone call, a form submission, or a purchase.

We use visual hierarchy, strategic whitespace, and deliberate colour contrast to draw the eye where it needs to go. Call-to-action placement is tested, not guessed. Every element earns its place on the page.

Performance as a feature

Speed is not a technical afterthought. It is a core design decision. Google penalises slow sites in search rankings, and users abandon pages that take longer than three seconds to load. We treat performance as a first-class design constraint.

Our sites typically load in under two seconds. We achieve this through optimised image delivery, minimal JavaScript, efficient CSS, and hosting architecture that serves content from the nearest edge. No bloated page builders, no unnecessary plugins.

Accessible to everyone

One in five people in the UK has a disability. If your website is not accessible, you are turning away customers and exposing your business to legal risk. We build to WCAG 2.1 AA standards as a baseline, not as an add-on.

This means proper colour contrast ratios, keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, clear heading structures, and alt text on every image. Accessible design is not a compromise. It is better design for everyone.

Built to rank

A website that cannot be found is a website that does not exist. We build search engine optimisation into the foundations: clean semantic HTML, structured data markup, proper heading hierarchy, fast load times, and mobile-first responsive layouts.

Every site we launch includes technical SEO fundamentals: XML sitemaps, canonical tags, Open Graph metadata, and schema markup. Your content is structured so that Google and AI search engines can understand exactly what your business offers.

The elephant in the room

Why we don't build on WordPress.

WordPress powers 40% of the web. It is also responsible for most of the slowest, most hacked, and most expensive-to-maintain websites you have ever used. For the vast majority of business websites, it is the wrong tool for the job.

Speed

A typical WordPress site scores 30 to 50 on Lighthouse out of the box. The sites we build on Astro and Next.js score 95 to 100. That difference shows up in your search rankings and your bounce rate.

Security

WordPress is the most attacked CMS on the web because its plugin ecosystem creates thousands of attack surfaces. Static sites built with Astro have no database, no admin panel, and no plugin vulnerabilities to exploit.

Maintenance

WordPress demands constant attention: core updates, plugin updates, security patches, database bloat, and the inevitable plugin conflicts that break the site. Our sites run untouched for years.

What we use instead

We build on Astro for marketing sites, Next.js for richer web apps, Laravel for custom PHP platforms, and Shopify for e-commerce. Clients still get a friendly editor through a headless CMS when they need one. They just get a site that is ten times faster and a fraction of the maintenance burden.

Our process

How we build every website.

We follow a proven four-stage process that keeps you involved at every decision point without slowing things down. Most projects go from first conversation to live website in six to eight weeks.

01/ Discovery
We listen before we design.

We interview your team, study your competitors, and map out your customer journey. Who are your visitors? What do they need? What is stopping them from converting today? The answers shape every decision that follows.

02/ Design
Bold choices, backed by data.

We create wireframes first to nail the user flow, then layer on visual design that reflects your brand. You see full-page mockups before a single line of code is written. We present options, explain the reasoning, and refine until it feels right.

03/ Build
Clean code, zero bloat.

Our developers hand-code with performance in mind. No drag-and-drop builders, no bloated frameworks. We build on modern platforms (Astro, Next.js, Laravel, Shopify) depending on your needs, always prioritising speed, security, and maintainability.

04/ Launch and optimise
Go live, then get better.

Launch day is the start, not the finish. We monitor analytics, track conversion rates, and make data-driven improvements. Heatmaps show where users engage. A/B tests reveal what messaging works. Your site gets smarter over time.

What we build

From brochure sites to complex platforms.

Business websites

Your website is often the first impression a potential customer has of your business. We build sites that load fast, look professional, and guide visitors to get in touch. Clear messaging, strong calls to action, and a design that reflects who you are.

Every business site includes mobile-responsive design, SEO foundations, analytics setup, and a content management system so you can make updates without calling us.

E-commerce stores

An online store needs to do more than display products. It needs to reduce friction at every step: fast product search, clear imagery, straightforward checkout, and trusted payment processing. We build stores on Shopify or as custom Next.js storefronts depending on your catalogue size and integration requirements.

We optimise product pages for search engines and shopping feeds, implement abandoned cart recovery, and ensure the checkout experience works flawlessly on mobile.

E-commerce platform

Web applications

Sometimes a website is not enough. You need a platform: a booking system, a client portal, a workflow tool, or a full SaaS product. We design and build web applications that handle complex logic while keeping the user experience simple and intuitive.

Our application work includes user authentication, role-based access, real-time data processing, third-party integrations, and scalable cloud infrastructure. Learn more about our software development.

"Our website has seen consistent year-on-year growth ever since Dynamics took over. They rebuilt the site, set up the local SEO foundations, and have been quietly improving things every month. After years of mixed results from bigger agencies, this has been a revelation."

Recent work

Three things we've built recently.

A snapshot of the kind of work we do. One client engagement and two products we own and ship ourselves. The three sites share the same underlying philosophy: speed, clarity, and conversion ahead of aesthetic indulgence.

Pricing

What you get for what you pay.

Most agencies hide their prices behind a contact form. We do not. Every web design engagement we run falls into one of three bands. Where the work lands inside a band depends on how much content design, photography direction, integration work and ongoing support is involved. The numbers below are the starting points, not the ceilings.

Essential

For sole traders and smaller businesses who need a credible web presence without the full brochure-site overhead.

from £4,000
  • Single-page or small marketing site
  • Mobile-responsive design
  • SEO foundations and schema
  • Basic content management
  • Hosting setup and DNS
Most common

Professional

For established businesses who need a full marketing site that earns enquiries and ranks in their sector.

from £10,000
  • Full multi-page brochure site
  • Content design and copy direction
  • Photography direction
  • CMS, FAQ schema, analytics
  • 90 days of post-launch support

Bespoke

For larger platforms, web apps, and sites with integration or scale requirements that outgrow the brochure model.

from £20,000
  • Custom web app or platform
  • Scoped on dedicated discovery
  • Integration work included
  • Ongoing support retainer
  • Roadmap and quarterly review

E-commerce stores (Shopify, or bespoke Next.js storefronts) are quoted per project. Catalogue size, payment integrations, and inventory feed complexity drive the number more than design does, so we scope these in a short discovery session before we put a figure to it. Ask us for a quote.

Sectors

Industries we work in.

We are not industry-agnostic to the point of vagueness, but we are not pretending to be specialists in every sector either. The work we have done most of is grouped below. If your sector is not on the list, ask us; we will tell you honestly whether we are a good fit or not.

Legal services

Multi-practice solicitors and conveyancing firms. We work with John Barkers Solicitors and Symes Bains Broomer, and we build our own legal tooling under CaseReady and ConveyQuote. We understand SRA constraints, lead routing into case management systems, and the way legal buyers actually evaluate firms online.

Local services and delivery

Doorstep delivery, self-storage, and other locally-rooted service businesses where the website needs to convert someone within a finite catchment. Doorstep Dairy and Red Tower Storage are both ongoing engagements where we built the site and the systems that run behind it.

Comparison, marketing data, and retail

Datafeed work and front-end engineering inside large comparison sites and retailers. MoneySupermarket across two verticals, Thomas Cook for paid-search data quality, Carphone Warehouse for creative production, and Confused.com for systems and market research.

B2B and SME generally

The bulk of the smaller engagements we run sit here: professional services, trade, and owner-managed businesses across Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, and the wider UK who need a credible, fast site that actually generates enquiries. Same craft, same engineering standards, scaled to the budget.

Web design FAQs

The questions buyers actually ask.

How long does a website build typically take?

+

Most marketing websites go from first conversation to live site in six to eight weeks. Larger platforms or sites with bespoke integrations can run twelve to sixteen weeks. We give you a fixed timeline in the proposal — no surprises mid-project.

Do you build on WordPress?

+

Rarely, and only when there is a specific reason. For most marketing sites we build on Astro for speed and security. For richer web apps we use Next.js or Laravel. For e-commerce we use Shopify or a bespoke Next.js storefront. WordPress is a heavy, frequently-attacked platform that creates ongoing maintenance overhead we would rather avoid.

Will I own my website when it goes live?

+

Yes. You own the code, the content, the design files, and the hosting account. Everything is transferable. We will hand over admin access on day one if you ask us to.

Do you provide hosting?

+

We do, on UK-based managed infrastructure with daily backups, SSL, and monitoring built in. You can also host elsewhere if you have a preferred provider — your choice.

Can I edit the site myself after launch?

+

Yes. For marketing sites we deploy a headless CMS (Sanity or similar) where you can edit content without touching code. For Shopify stores you get full admin access. For bespoke web apps the admin tooling is built to your spec.

What does a typical website cost?

+

A focused marketing site for a small business typically starts at £4,000 — £8,000. A full multi-page brochure site with content design, photography direction and SEO foundations is usually £10,000 — £20,000. E-commerce builds and bespoke web apps are scoped to the project. We give you a fixed price in the proposal.

How do you make the site rank in search?

+

Every site we build ships with SEO foundations: clean semantic HTML, structured data markup, XML sitemap, Open Graph and Twitter Card metadata, fast load times, and mobile-first responsive layout. For pages to actually rank for competitive search terms you need content and links over time — that is where our SEO service comes in alongside the build.

Do you do accessibility properly?

+

Yes. We design and build to WCAG 2.1 AA standards as a baseline, not as an add-on. That means proper colour contrast, keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, semantic heading structure, and alt text on every image. Accessibility is a legal expectation in many sectors and a usability improvement for everyone.
